Being a morning person to those who are not can seem near on impossible. However, getting up early can make you feel amazing. You have more time to be productive and all before the rest of the world has even risen. Gaining those extra few hours a day can be exactly what is needed to set yourself up for a positive day. The hours in the morning is also when the brain is most active after resting during sleep, therefore the tasks you complete in the morning are usually done with more efficiency and to a higher standard. I myself haven’t always been a morning person but it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done. So if you want to join me and become one of those annoying morning people, I have some simple tips to help you do exactly that: This may seem obvious but to get up earlier you have to go to bed earlier. Our bodies need between 7-9 hours sleep and getting any less is neither fun nor good for your health. If you love to snooze your alarm in the morning, place it on the other side of the room so it requires you to get out of bed to turn it off. Once you are up, resist the temptation to crawl back into bed. Kick start your morning by washing your face, drinking a glass of water and brushing your teeth this will make sure the body knows that it is time to get on with the day. Write a to-do list for the next day. Going to bed with a clear schedule for the next day will allow you to sleep better with a rested mind but will also give you motivation to get up in the morning and start ticking off that to do list. To really start the day right put a workout at the top of your to-do list to get the blood pumping and ensure you feel great for the rest of the day. Consistency is key; within the world of fitness this phrase is always used and is so important because everything takes time. Being persistent and implementing a routine every day of the week makes the transition to being a morning person much smoother. So try and set an alarm every day of the week for a similar time so the body gets used to getting up. Have a positive mindset towards making a change. The mind is a powerful tool and if we utilise it in the right way, anything is possible. Early mornings can either be seen as your worst nightmare or your best friend, you make the choice. Once applying some of these tips to your daily life, getting up that little bit earlier will become easier I promise.
